20 percent of the electricity needs of Turgut Özal Medical Center are met with the solar power plant with a power of 5.3 MW, established on 120 decares of land on the İnönü University campus in Malatya.
One-fifth of the electricity needs of Turgut Özal Medical Center have been met with the 5.3 MW solar power plant established on 120 decares of land at İnönü University in Malatya, and a saving of 35 million 500 thousand liras has been achieved since 2015. The solar power plant, which was established on February 1, 2015 in the central campus of İnönü University to meet the needs of the university hospital and has 21 thousand 177 panels, continues its production without interruption. The power plant, which produces an average of 24 thousand kWh per day, 700 thousand kWh per month, and 8 million 200 thousand kWh annually, meets 20 percent of the electricity need of Turgut Özal Medical Center. Since 2015, approximately 60 million kWh of energy has been produced from the power plant, where more production is made in the spring and summer months, and a saving of 35 million 500 thousand liras has been achieved. Inonu University Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kızılay, in his statement to the AA correspondent, stated that as a university, they have been carrying out their green campus studies intensively and systematically for 6 years. Explaining that they attach great importance to renewable energy and energy saving, Kızılay continued as follows:
As a renewable energy source, we have a 5.3 MW solar power plant on our campus. Apart from this, we also have solar power plants at some points connected to our university. Our power plant, the largest of which has a power of 5.3 MW, meets 20 percent of our hospital’s electricity needs. Despite being such a large power plant, we need so much energy in our hospital that we can only meet 1/5 of it. In addition, we started a project for a new 5 MW solar power plant on our campus. We will implement it.
Expressing that their work on renewable energy continues uninterrupted, Kızılay said that they are working to ensure energy savings by renewing the energy lines and transformers in all units on the campus.Prof. Dr. Expressing that they have made great progress in terms of energy production and saving in their campuses, Kızılay said, ‘he energy we have produced from our solar power plants so far has exceeded maybe 40 million with our savings.’ made a statement.
