Turkey’s ‘domestic automobile’ dream came true 52 years ago by the mass production of the car named ‘Anadol’. Reviving the dream by 5 strong Turkish companies and by the leadership of President Erdogan in november 2017, today Turkey’s Automobile Joing Venture group is expected to be incorporated after presenting the CEO of the organization. As well as the 5 big Turkish companies Anadolu Group, BMC, Kıraça, Turkcell and Zorlu which take the responsibility for turning into reality the dream, also Science, Industry and Technology Ministry and Turkey Chambers and Stock Exchanges Union (TOBB) participate in this Project.
Starting with the call of president Erdogan and maintained by the coordination of the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology and TOBB, the process of the domestic brand car production began on the 2nd of November 2017 signing the Joint Venture Group Cooperation Protocol with the top 5 Turkish companies.
Following the signing of the contracts, the process of incorporation started and the technical and financial analysis were carried out. In addition to the 5 largest companies in the Local Automobile Project TOBB became a partner in the company with 5% of the shares. Thus, a project with 6 partners was formed.
The project, which is regarded as a turning point in terms of Turkish industry and technology, was aimed to create a comprehensive strategy that will provide a completely different positioning in the sector by monitoring technology and consumer trends. This Joint Venture Group emphasizes that Turkey’s automobile design will be done according to the expectations of the Turkish public opinion and in this context, it is also announced that a very comprehensive and professional consumer research study is being held around the country.
At this point, it is expected that President Erdogan will announce the CEO of the company very shortly, and the signing of the company’s establishment protocol. Following the realization of the incorporation period, the design, production, logo and brand of the domestic automobile will be determined in the next period and will be concentrated on developing the prototype. Recognized as one of Turkey’s vision project «Turkey’s Car», it is expected to enter the market with 5 models in B and C segments and for aiming the production costs it is planned to have 3 of them under the same frame.
In the project, plans are made as a 15 year investment formed by 3 phases. Mr. Faruk Ozlu, the Minister of Science, Industry and Technology, said that in a late statement that the place where the domestic automobile will be produced will be handled in the second phase of the project, and that there is now a demand from 22 cities and that the requests will be evaluated next year.
